The Waveney River Centre is situated in Beccles, in the beautiful surroundings of South Norfolk’s Waveney Valley. We caught up with the Marketing Director, Ruth Knight to find out more about the centre.

 


Tell us a little bit about the Waveney River Centre?

Discover the Broads best kept secret – Waveney River Centre. The award-winning luxury holiday destination set within the heart of the Broads National Park on the River Waveney. We have a variety of accommodation from luxurious lodges with hot tubs, to glamping pods and yurts. Our onsite facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, holiday shop, outdoor children’s play, boat hire, canoeing, wildlife garden and much more! Not to mention the Waveney Inn, our fantastic onsite restaurant and hotel, serving breakfast lunch and dinner all year round! So, whether you are looking for a great day out, a short break or a longer holiday to remember it’s time you discover the Broads best kept secret!

What makes centre unique?

Waveney River Centre is situated adjacent to the Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve. Those staying on site can relax in their hot tub whilst enjoying the breath-taking view of the sun rising over the marshes. Our location is perfect for a nature walk, and whilst exploring our park and the nature reserve you will be able spot numerous breeds of wildlife including herons, marsh harriers and even the rare swallowtail butterfly! Our onsite ferry transports passengers to and from Carlton Marshes in a matter of minutes.

What’s not to be missed ?

Take the opportunity to get out on the water! The Broads National Park has so many things to see and do but amongst the best is getting out on the water. From Waveney River Centre you can choose to explore the broads from our all-weather heated Day Cruisers with onboard toilet and galley, or those that prefer to get a little close to the water can try Canoeing or Kayaking! Finish the perfect day out on the water with a delicious meal at the Waveney Inn.


Can you give us a random fact about Waveney River Centre?

Waveney River Centre has been awarded David Bellamy’s Gold Conservation Award for the past 10 years. The award scheme running since 1996 champions holiday parks that are working to protect and enhance the environment. We know this fantastic area of outstanding natural beauty that our park is set within, will remain so only if we take positive action in caring for it. The team here at Waveney River Centre continually review ways in which we can change our operations to better support the environment.

After visiting, where would you
recommend having a bite to eat?

The Waveney Inn! Waveney Valley’s waterside destination restaurant offering a menu of delicious, locally-sourced food, freshly prepared and cooked on the premises. Early birds can get their day off to a flying start with one of our fabulous full English breakfasts, we offer sumptuous lunches and baguette menu for those looking for a lighter bite! Afternoon tea is one of our specialities. Don’t forget if you’re out for an evening meal to check our varied special board and to leave room for one of our chef’s delicious desserts!

What is your favourite thing to do in Suffolk on your day off?

Taking the family out on the water! There’s a reason the Broads is nicknamed Britain’s Magical Waterland. There’s nothing better than exploring this wonderful National Park aboard a motor cruiser with family and friends. Stopping for a pub lunch, feeding the ducks, and wildlife spotting truly helps us to escape the hubbub of the everyday!
